  • A valve that lets you adjust the flow of water to any rate between fully on and fully off. Also see Gate Valve.

  • A globe valve is a type of valve used for regulating flow in a pipeline, consisting of a movable disk-type element and a stationary ring seat in a generally spherical body.

  • A valve with a linear motion, push-pull stem, whose one or more ports and body are distinguished by a globular shaped cavity around the port region.

Valve, Needle





This type of valve is a special case of a globe valve. The flow should (but does not always do so) come up under the needle (from the right) and then goes around the needle and out to the left. The flow pattern in most valves is set up so that when the valve is closed that the valve packing is on the low pressure side. This reduces the probability of leaks.
